Treasure of Korak'Chellan
Dragon Hide and Scales
As a young adult Red Dragon, Korak'chellan had an impressive hide. This hide may be harnessed by a skilled skinner and put to use.
Said raw materials are worth 50 gp on their own. Some things that might be made from them:
- Red Dragon Leather Armor: Made from the hide of the dragon, not its scales, this armor is as supple as unboiled leather, yet needs no further hardening to resist blades and spells alike. Provides +20% Soak and Resist 50% (fire). Market Value: 30 gp. Cost to Create: dragon hide worth 15 gp.
- Red Dragon Plate Armor: Made from the thick outer plates of a red dragon, which are lighter and harder than steel, this plate armor renders its wearer nigh-immune to flame. Grants +20% Soak, Hardness 10%, Resist 75% (fire). Market Value: 70 gp. Cost to Create: dragon scales worth 35 gp.
- Red Dragon Scale Shield: Carved of the very largest scales of a red dragon--those covering its breast and heart--this shield's origin is unmistakable. Like all red dragon scales, it is impervious to flame, and substantially harder than any common metal. Grants +50 Block rating and Resist 50% (fire); fire resistance applies when using shield to grant cover to allies. Market Value: 40 gp. Cost to Create: dragon scale worth 20 gp.
Harvesting the hide will render the corpse useless as an undead servant.
Dragon Parts
The dragon's body yields many interesting parts besides its skin.
Dragon Bones
The bones of a dragon have the consistency of spring steel. Hollow, like any flying creature, they are relatively lightweight (compared to a dragon's strength). A few choice bones are often selected for various purposes; for a dragon of this size, there are sufficient materials to create:
- Dragon Bone Axe: The breastbone of a red dragon has a natural "keel", a wide crescent shape. Honed to a sharp edge, this would make a fine two-handed axe. Relatively lightweight for its size, it would be swifter than any metal axe, yet should have no trouble penetrating steel armor. Weapon stats: two-handed, str-based, +0 hit, +25 hit power, +20 crit, +50 crit power, +20 haste. (It could also be cut into a Scythe with similar stats). Market value: 50 gp. Cost to Create: breastbone of a red dragon, worth 25 gp.
- Dragonbone Staff: Dragons have many long bones which can be shaped into ideal staves. The bone of a dragon makes a fine sympathetic component to harness the tremendous natural potential of the race. Due to the nature of thaumaturgy, only a single staff may be made in this manner. As a staff harnessed from the death of a living creature, it has a certain affinity toward death magics of life and death. The staff may be used to store Energy/Vitae/etc (max 1/rank), with 2-for-1 value on withdrawal for magicks involving negative or positive energy. Market Value: 30 gp. Cost to create: dragon bones worth 15 gp.
The remaining bones have a market value of 20 gp as curiosities.
Dragon Heart
The heart of a prime dragon such as this is an essential component to certain rare alchemical recipes. In particular, the Flask of Vitality:
- The Flask of Vitality is a powerful concoction which permanently alters the imbiber's physiology, making him more vital and powerful.
- Each Flask may be drank only once; subsequently imbibing a flask of the same type causes its effects to overlap, not stack.
- A rank 3 Flask of Vitality requires the heart of red dragon of at least young adult age. In addition, it requires 20 gp worth of alchemical components.
- When imbibed, the flask grants a permanent +3 inherent bonus to Strength and Constitution. (Mixology applies to this bonus)
- A complete Flask of Vitality (rank 3) has a market value of 50 gp.
Dragon Flame Glands
Red dragons breathe fire with help from their flame glands, quasi-magical organs which store tremendous energy, and, when filled, heat trapped air rapidly to thousands of degrees. Alchemists and engineers have found clever uses for these organs.
- Dragon's Breath Cannon: This small cannon (about the size of a rocket launcher) makes use of a red dragon's flame sac to produce massive gouts of flame. Power: daily, std, medium cone; inflicts fire damage as ranged weapon (dex-based, heavy, +500 hit power), plus same ongoing for 3 rounds. Market value: 25 gp.
2 such cannons could be made by harnessing the dragon's flame sacs, and expending 5 gp worth of alchemical components and 5 gp worth of engineering components each.
Dragon's Hoard
Korak'chellan was not the wealthiest of dragons. He preyed upon poor villagers, passing up items of practical value for all that glitters. As such, he has accumulated a fortune more voluminous than it is valuable:
- 50,812 copper pieces
- 182 silver pieces
- 6 gold pieces
- Hundreds of lesser stones and jewels worth 34,612 cp
